Undone

Some of my favorite items are in our foyer, which I was going to redo in January to tie everything together more asthetically. Fast forward to May and another unchecked task on my list. Now here comes summer (June, July, August, Sept...) and if the pool is open and the sun is shining, it goes without saying... The bench is from Overstock, the urn from Homegoods and the pillows from Pottery Barn. The ficus was handed down to me from my grandmother when I moved into my 1st apartment in 1995. I've had some close calls with the plant, but she always recovers and is one of my most cherished possessions.
I love these pillows and the BEST part...the baby can't break them!

Wrought iron pineapple...the country house catalog circa 2000.

One of a pair of vases handed down to me by my mom....I love the colors and they flank the front door, filled with eucalyptus.

Twins....recent lighting additions that take you from the entrance into the kitchen.

My hopes for this room (in the fall) is to add a vintage drop-front table that I have to paint (the same green as in the vases), some rugs and add some more items to the walls. It is the first place you see when entering a home, so I want it to be super~warm and inviting! After the summer....

Outside Lookin' in {Home Tour Tuesdays}

Home Tour Tuesdays {HTT} are on hiatus, but I am going to continue on, as I already had the post ready (and it gives me another opportunity to complain about our weather in the Mid-Atlantic). Daphne & Shannon are thinking up some fresh new themes for HTT, if you have anything you'd like to see, leave me a comment :)

It's still questionable round' here....greenery is still scarce (see below), so I'd rather look in than out right now. Ask me again in 2 months when grass is green, flowers are blooming and the pool is shining bright blue... All I got is Pines, Firs and bird nests... Neighbor's tree and green grass (I'm borrowin' their image outta my dining room window; hubby ripped up our WHOLE front yard and we're starting from scratch, not from SOD, from scratch! Wish us luck....)
All of the birds nests are in our Ga-Zillion Rose-of Sharon bushes/trees/weeds, whatever you'd like to call them (I'm not a fan)
Inside is a bit more colorful!

will work for paint {Home Tour Tuesdays}

As neat as it's gonna get...Welcome to our playroom! Sometime in the future it will be named the CBH Club, when I get creative with paint (this room desperately needs paint....but realistically, not til' late this year, if this year at all). Notice Collin's Quad parked in the corner for the winter
We've only been in the home for 1-1/2 years, it was formally a garage, then a studio to house family or older children. For us a playroom. It houses all of Collin's toys, most of Brennans, the wii and Daddy's kegerator in the kitchenette. (Nice...boys will surely appreciate THAT during their formative years....)

Again....another place in our home that is DESPARATE for shelving

Kitchenette and a handy~dandy 1/2 bath.

I am blessed to have a spot to house all of this stuff, so many do not. It's lacking asthetically, not very stimulating, but again hope to jazz it up in the future. I do like how the entrance from the house is elevated and I have visions of the boys putting shows on that "stage"! On that entrance wall we do plan on painting it with chalkboard paint, so the boys can express themselves (or eat the chalk depending on which one!)

Serves a Purpose {Home Tour Tuesdays}

It's really just hubby's room and this is what it's all about.

Prints by Alan Maltz...Last sunrise & sunset of 1999 and first sunrise & sunset of 2000, Key West. One of the few embellishments in the room...otherwise it's quite bland.
Love my rug, but you know pedialyte stains pretty bad...shoulda waited a few years before investing in a PB rug...

I painted the room dark chocolate last year to add to the man-cave theme(and to draw your eye AWAY from the 70's paneling). I hung some curtains to separate the living room and tv room, the afternoon sun can be brutal.

A mirror and some lamps finish it off. I am looking forward to adding to the room and warming it up in the future, but for now it serves it's purpose. I am linking up with Daphne & Shannon for Home Tour Tuesdays. Check it out ~ I'd love to peek and get more inspired!

Also, CHECK OUT my 2 posts from yesterday regarding my craigslist find....I NEED input!! Thank you!!!

Surfin' Safari {Home Tour Tuesdays}

The big boys room ~ no matter how I try to keep it beachy, Spiderman and the Transformers always show up. When we purchased his bunk beds, I saw a pirate ship (!) and went from there. Surfboard rug, nautical accessories, gold & white buffalo check valances and bamboo shades add to Collin's room.

Can't forget his stuffed animals and Phillies gear!

The little boys room ~ Safari. Before I was even pregnant, I had the wall color and curtains chosen for this room (Bungalow gold by Eddie Bauer @ Lowes...best wall color EVER! My bff just did her master in it...try it, you'll love it! The curtains are moire plaid in ginger by Country Curtains).

Everything else just fell into place, including the rattan giraffe that I found literally for song...

Rounding out Brennan's room is a comfy chair with giraffe pillows from Pier 1 and his favorite books & toys. Both boys need shelving in their rooms for books & breakables, that'll come soon.

I'm linking up with Daphne & Shannon for Home Tour Tuesdays ~ thanks for dropping by!

Nothing white about my linen closet {Home Tour Tuesdays}

This Hall closet is a MESS...sheets, blankets and extra towels, I'm too embarassed to share (but thanks to my hubby for contributing to this post ;-)
I'll show you a smidgen....cleaning supplies, baby bath supplies and the boys bathroom summer accessories. Notice the plastic bags shoved in a slot for baby messes (Way to go mommy...put the plastic bags where baby can reach....I've remedied that situation!)

Husbands idea of a linen closet....he is all about hooks {two more letters and this post is x-rated}

Everyday towels for me & the boys. I am addicted to Aquis microfiber towels for my hair, I've used them for years. Check them out here: http://aquis.com/
Post was light, so let's add the beach towel closet! I know that swimmie diapers and acrylic wineglasses have NOTHING to do with this weeks home tour!
Happy Tuesday & Happy Birthday to Daphne!!

Pantry Raid!

I am linking up with Flip Flops & Pearls and Webbisodes for Home Tour Tuesdays Pantry Raid. I tidied up a *bit* for this weeks entry, and if anything else, these peeks into my home are good for that! (Lord help me for the Linen closet tour next week). Anyhoo, I am grateful for the pantry space I do have, but it overflows into cabinets...the breakfast/bread cabinet, the spice - teas -baking - recipe soup cabinet, etc....but I am NOT showing ya'll the junk food drawer! As far as my fave snack...always has been/always will be Cheerios. Healthy right??? Wrong! I could eat a whole box in one sitting.... Have a wonderful Tuesday! (I am having more trouble posting the link-up buttons?!?!)

More of our Master Bedroom

Hallway to our master bath and my closet. I will NEVER show you either, as I am mortified to reveal the disco tile & shag carpet that the former homeowners left behind (although they rocked the rest of the rooms carpet with PLUSH padding!)

There are 8 hooks on hubbys closet door....he has EVERY single sweatshirt and hoodie he owns hanging from those hooks....it must weigh more than we do!

The closet pictured here is where trends go to die....must purge soon...

We moved into this home in Aug 2009, our old bedroom was 8x8 with no closet. This one is 25x19 with 3 closets, and I think we earned it. We work crazy hours and that combined with 2 little ones, sleep is very important. This room is dark and away from the noise of the rest of the home, so rather than be a "showplace" it's very serviceable.

But should it ever become a "showplace" (after I win the publishers clearinghouse), I am going to seriously work that windowseat!

I am adding these pics after showing off my nightstand on Flip Flops & Pearls/Webbisodes Home Tour Tuesdays. Have a lovely Wednesday!

Lights Out! Home Tour Tuesday

I was going for a Hollywood Glam ala http://hookedonhouses.net/2008/11/11/tori-spelling-and-dean-mcdermotts-love-nest/ Tori Spelling's old master bedroom. Obviously, there furniture budget is not MY furniture budget, so I picked up a cheapy mirrored side table from Pier 1. The mirrored chest I really wanted was from Horchow for $699....ummm, no.!
Hubbies nightstand...clock, phone, kindle. Photo of him and Collin on the day he graduated from the Police Academy and a photo of his mother. All very orderly and neat. And then there is...

My mess! I actually pulled items from the itty-bitty drawer on my nightstand, so you can see the RANDOM stuff I keep in there such as; special cards and my #1 mom button, cough drops, nail file, measuring tape (Ugh...for my waistline), theatre programs, St. Patricks day face tattoos and beads, eye cream, bookmarks and froggy reading light, my nameplate from my high school job @ Things Remembered and the book I was reading when I had Brennan....haven't touched it since :( I had like 20 pages to go!! Someday I'll pick it back up....

How it normally looks...lamp, clock, baby pics and a vase my grandmother received on her wedding day in 1934.
I am linking up with Flip Flops & Pearls for Home Tour Tuesday ~ This weeks theme is Lights Out {show us what's on your nightstand}. Sending my get well wishes to Shannon, too!

January 11, 2011

I'll get around to it someday....

Door to the deck, to the pool...this large cabinet houses everything from towels, to swimmie diapers, to sunscreen, to citronella...very convenient and no tracking water through the house.
I've only "slightly" decorated this room so far...an antique rug beater & camp stool, and a pair of birds on canvas prints over the sink (courtesy of the "Tree"). This room DESPERATELY needs a f~u~n color to offset all of the white and appliances....

The former owner had these bars on the wall AND on the ceiling. I guess they air-dried alot. They are handy in the summer for swimsuits and in the winter it becomes a hat depository, home for slippers and flip-flops and the occasional throw rug.

Perfect crafting spot....if & when I get my butt in gear and designate it so.

Jazzing up the Laundry Room that is... I am linking up with Flip Flops & Pearls and Webbisodes for Home Tour Tuesday. We moved in about 1 1/2 years ago and quite honestly the Laundry was not high on my to-do list. It does have great potential...it's large, bright and has great storage. Because I do spend alot of time in there and can be seen via a french door from the family room and kitchen, I should invest some time in there to make it more pleasing to the eye. I am getting such inspiration from viewing my fellow bloggers beautiful Laundry Rooms, I may have to make it a spring project! Thanks for viewing my room; any & all suggestions are welcome!
