Pretty Box to catch paperwork and periodicals until filing.  Yellow garden stool works as a side table.

Alcove got a light treatment, as my budget was shot.  Clearance frames from Michaels for the boys pics and plant/accessories from the house.  This area will receive additional treatment in the future.

The rug provides an amazing pop of color.

Family artwork.  I scrubbed the 1st canvas I did; I repainted a canvas with an ombre effect mirroring the colors from the boys paintings.  We added a canister "up" light under the ficus to illuminate the wall.  Photo can be seen at the end of this post, may be my favorite thing about the room!

Disclaimer:  Sadly, all Iphone pics for my reveal.  Should I participate in a challenge again, I'm hiring a photog!

Now that this is complete, I'm going to clean the rest of my house and get my roots done!

Hutton Home Office {ORC week five}

Coming down to the wire!  Week five of the One Room Challenge.  Thanks to Linda for opening it up to all!

My progress to date: Week One, Week Two, Week Three, Week Four.

Here we go...

My blind solution.  As my budget waned, I found these paper blinds from Lowe's for $6.  The gray, room-darkening shades actually look okay and will work nicely until I order my wood blinds after Christmas.

Still need to steam the curtains.

Homework station has remained the same since the beginning.  I added the stencil to the closet doors temporarily.  I plan to chalkboard wall them after the holidays, as well as hunt for a low-profile bookcase.

Simple, but elegant chair from Homegoods.

Family artwork almost ready to hang.  I brought the stencil into the larger canvas to tie the room together.

Shopping my home for accents.  Moving these from the living room, my grandfathers antique binoculars will work perfectly.

Some more accents borrowed from the boys bathroom and family room.

Still to do...hang EVERYTHING!  Waiting til' the midnight hour to hang the wall decor.  I am going to give the room a final cleaning, lay the carpet, arrange the furniture, and add some fresh elements for final photos.

After all of this and that, I'm not going to want my husband and boys in there!

Final look at my inspiration photos:

I'm really humbled to be a part of this challenge, I'm in amazing company!

Thanks for visiting!

Have you tried...

ColorSnap by Sherwin Williams? Its an iPhone App that lets you snap an inspiration picture and match colors to it. I also tried ColorCapture by Benjamin Moore, but I didn't love it as much.  I think it is going to be integral in our home office project. Here's a peek at my curtain fabric (linen curtains by Pine Cone Hill in flax) and the rug I've decided on (Eastern Colors available at Overstock or Horchow).

I'm leaning toward the Gray.  It would be more of a neutral if I should change up the accessories in the future and kinda outside of my comfort zone, as I tend to gravitate toward warmer colors.

This project will begin once we've completed our January clean up & out. That could still be happening in March...

Thanks for visiting xo
