Revisiting the One Room Challenge {now}

I'm Joining Linda @ Calling it Home today to showcase what our One Room Challenge rooms are looking like today.

This was our home office at the final week of the ORC 2013.

This is where I started...flesh colored walls and tacky border.

The brown futon has been moved temporarily into the boys playroom and the plants needed a brighter place for this cold winter.

Some things have changed, but the essence of the room with it's gray walls, warm wood floors and bright accessories make me smile every time I'm in there!

So, keeping it real, it's become a package depository.

Sports bag drop off

Stacks and stacks of magazines fill each corner...literally.

That being said, it's a working, productive home office!

Head over to Linda's and check out how all of the others are faring some months later...

Some are even more beautiful than when we last saw them at the finale and I didn't think that was possible...

It's an amazing group of talented ladies!

Thanks for visiting!

One Room Challenge Recap {my faves}

The one room challenge link party was such a fun experience.  More than participating, I truly enjoyed watching everyone's progress.  I loved the reveals and EVERY participants room had an aspect that spoke to me (and pinned!).  The eight [8] below encompass an idea that I hope to incorporate into my home in the future.  Maybe even the next ORC in April!

Click on the names to see their amazing transformations!

Caitlin is a San Fran blogger who transformed her shed...it's the coolest space ever (my boys would LOVE!).  Rustic + chic all in one space...

Eris and her hubs at the Pink House Reno renovated this dining room.  It is perfectly styled.  The before and after pics are amazing, it's absolutely stunning!

Elisa redid her staircase.  It's not just a stairwell, it's an architectural piece of art. We hope to do our own staircase in the future, Elisa's was inspiring...

My fellow Jersey Girl, Shelley created her home office in her beloved tropical style.  While I love what we did with ours, I'm just a tad bit jealous of her space...it's lovely!

Kate did a sweet nursery.  While I'm not planning on a nursery (!), I love many aspects of her room.  The floors, soothing colors and sentimental objects make it really special.

Laurie's bathroom reno is divine.  So warm and inviting.  With 3 bathroom makeovers in our future, I was especially excited to get inspired by the baths in the ORC.

Jenny Beths spoke to me as well.  I've been obsessed with her Sockeye paint color by Sherwin Williams and her pallet wall since Week 3.  Sockeye, may be used in my house during the next challenge....

Stephanie did this amazing dining room (also on our to-do list).  I love the deep, bold color on the wall and how it makes the fabrics and accessories pop.  She still waiting on the rug and light fixture, but that's just going to be icing on the cake.  Just lovely.

By the way, save the date April 3, 2014.  Next go-around!

Thanks for visiting!

Alcove got a light treatment, as my budget was shot.  Clearance frames from Michaels for the boys pics and plant/accessories from the house.  This area will receive additional treatment in the future.

The rug provides an amazing pop of color.

Family artwork.  I scrubbed the 1st canvas I did; I repainted a canvas with an ombre effect mirroring the colors from the boys paintings.  We added a canister "up" light under the ficus to illuminate the wall.  Photo can be seen at the end of this post, may be my favorite thing about the room!

What's more exciting than participating in this challenge, is seeing all of the fabulously creative participants and their amazing spaces.  Please head over to Calling it Home to see her beautiful projects and to check out all of the participants.

Disclaimer:  Sadly, all Iphone pics for my reveal.  Should I participate in a challenge again, I'm hiring a photog!

Now that this is complete, I'm going to clean the rest of my house and get my roots done!

Thank you for visiting!

Hutton Home Office {ORC week four}

Welcome to my One Room Challenge week four update!  To see what it's all about click here.

It's been a slow week for me.  My sweet baby boys birthday weekend coupled with a sinus infection, has slowed my progress.  I will catch up over the next few days.

The electrician came!  I loved this pendant before it was installed, but now...holy cow, the glow is lovely.

You can find the fixture here.

Thanks to Mary Ann for this vintage light bulb tip.

While picking up a few things at Tar~Jay, I found this rusty-colored shade with a bronze base for the desk task lighting.

Have to pick up stenciling, where I left off.

This is the dark brown {p}leather futon that will be placed perpendicular to the desk. The boys are enjoying it in the tv room, as it's currently a slide.

The little ones art project for the family art wall.  I gave him creative license and it's exquisite.

I am learning that I will have more blank wall space than I anticipated.  I have absolutely no budget left, so I have to get creative or continue shopping my house for more accessories.

So this is where I am

Thanks for visiting and following along!
