A {semi} homemade dinner...
(that was delicious by the way; pizza with green peppers and fresh basil) got me thinking...
about re-purposing some pretty red posies. They used to be in the wire pitcher (which I hate, it just annoys me) and shoved in a cabinet.
But how much more fun are they in a cheap can of tomato sauce?!
This lil' arrangement doesn't match my kitchen AT ALL, but I don't care it makes me happy.
My Sister-in-Law's bridal shower was this weekend. It was an afternoon tea in Chadds Ford, PA. Hats required, gloves optional. So I "crafted" this beauty from an old beach hat found in the archives.
I'm NOT crafty. I get by in all other facets of life...cooking, gardening, furniture placement, etc...but I'm not crafty. I don't think I did too, too bad! I made a Mardi-Gras style hat in the hopes that I'll break this baby out in February for a party or two...

All from a cast off...In a large bowl, combine the vegetables, 3 tablespoons oil, garlic, salt and pepper. Transfer to an ungreased baking pan. Bake at 450° for 25-30 minutes or until vegetables are tender and moisture has evaporated, stirring every 10 minutes.
Lightly grease a rectangular pan; place pastry on prepared pan. Spoon vegetable mixture over pastry to within 1-1/2 inch of edges. Fold up edges of pastry over filling, leaving center uncovered. Brush pastry with remaining oil.
Bake at 450° for 20-25 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Sprinkle with Parmesan. Cut into squares. Garnish with basil if desired. Yield: 8 servings.
As previously stated...the bones are great, just need some pizazz. My wishlist would include some colorful canopies, shutters on the lower windows or window boxes overflowing with colorful flowers and greenery on the dormer windows. All in time....
...it's MUCH improved from the place we purchased in 2009. Gone is the chartruese lawn(weeds), outdated bay windows (one of which had lovely faux stained-glass blue flowers) and the shore-tacky piers by the street and front door.

Urns & ferns. The white plastic urns will get rehabbed over the next couple of weeks; painted black and replanted. I still have the Easter purple & golden flower theme in them, I will likely replace with red for more shots of color.

As the sign states, this weekend was the 10th Annual BTB Mako Rodeo. BTB stands for my husbands friend Brett who was killed on September 11th. I did not know Bill back then, but it is evident from this event how much Brett was loved by his friends and family...http://btbmakorodeo.com/ 
This is the boat that Bill fishes on with his best and lifelong friends. They didn't place this year, but a coupla days of fishing with friends was the perfect start to the Fathers Day weekend.
