Chalkboard Wall {did I post this already?}

Schoolhouse green chalkboard wall.  I was going to draw a chalk masterpiece to display it here, but Art is not my strong suit and it's now dusted with remnants of tic-tac-toe games and honey-do lists!

And yes, there may be a bottle of whiskey, a bartending guide and a kegerator in the playroom....we multi-task.

The rust-oleum chalkboard paint was easy on and comes in fun colors.  Even if you have a small area, I highly recommend this project ~ the kids love it!

Vintage Dresser Rehab

And by vintage, I mean mine.  I had this til' I was about 10, 11? Complete with Shalimar perfume sticker melted to one of the bottom drawers and my initials etched in various spots.
This has been stored for a ton of years now and my mom finally said come and get it if you want it (or else).
I had recently stolen a family trunk out of the big boys room to put in the living room (more on that later), so I decided to rehab that lovely brown, brassy pulled, marginally-made dresser.
For just under $20, I was able to transform the dresser into a more legitimate, useful piece of furniture.  Indigo spray paint in a satin finish and 8 cheap, brushed nickle-ish drawer pulls.  I think it looks darling in his room! (He just can't put anything substantial in there...socks, undies and bathing suits - that's it!  Anything more and it may collapse...)
So anyhoo...I hope to get back to blogging more often.  I really do have a FAB-U-LOUS Living Room Re-do to show off, but I am so scared to hang anything (i.e. put nails back in the wall, it's so pristine right now just painted) and haven't finalized my furniture placement,  BUT as soon as I get up the nerve, it will be here!

Hope all of my followers are well; if you are out there at all!  I just don't know where the time goes...

Thanks for visiting ~ Traci xoxo

Chalkboard Paint

I'm a lil' late on my 2012 projects.  My real life job has been busier that ever and home has been hectic.  Thank goodness we are experiencing our warmest winter in awhile, so at least no major snowstorms.  Then I would be really overwhelmed.
One of my top projects was painting a wall in the boys playroom with chalkboard paint.  While researching, I found that you can either buy...
 The good stuff...
or make your own.  Decisions, decisions?  The Hudson paint comes in fun colors and would be a smooth finish for about $24.99 for the size wall I am painting.  Make-it-yourself is cheaper, comes in any color I concoct and will be a grittier finish (which I kinda dig...!)

Maybe I should start small and experiment?

And speaking of snow...this was an Instagram I captured on Saturday morning before it all melted away.  A quick, low accumulation, melts fast storm is the best kind!

Hopefully I will be updating here with the chalkboard wall results next week!

Thanks for visiting! xoxo Traci
